A company’s data is everywhere – on devices, in the cloud, at rest, and in motion. Protecting that enterprise data is a very complex challenge, requiring a more unified approach.
Zscaler’s unified data protection platform aims to provide a single classification engine that lets CISOs and other IT leaders protect data from every angle and location. During this product demo with CIO.com, Zscaler’s Moinul Khan, SVP/GM for SSE/Data Protection, demonstrates some key capabilities of the platform, including new features on generative AI protection.
“With distributed data, with the cloud and mobility, enterprise customers are facing a lot of complexities when around data security,” Khan says. “Data is everywhere. There are a lot of data flows going from users to applications, from application to application, from API to API. And what we really strive to achieve, when we think about data security, is how can we deliver a fully integrated, very comprehensive data security solution for all different types of use cases.”
In order to accomplish this goal, Zscaler has improved their solution across the board, but two new tools, especially, are driving much of the success: generative AI security and data security posture management.
“If you look at our current solution today,” Khan adds, “we are protecting structured data and unstructured data. We are protecting data in motion, data at rest, and data in use. The number one issue that we see in the market is that these enterprise customers are stuck with six or seven different DLP products. When all these different DLP products are running, they’re all disjointed; they’re all standalone point solutions. So the way to really focus on the data security issue is with one single classification engine. You can create policy once, and then the same policy should be applicable. It doesn’t matter if the users are working from offices or from home. It doesn’t matter what devices they’re on. All that needs to be covered with a fully integrated solution, and that’s exactly what we are delivering to the market.”
